Views has video y’all.
Just pushed two new features. First, video auto-embedding. Much like audio files, we will auto-embed video for you and your viewers. Here’s an example video share.
Also deployed is auto-embed support for code files, with syntax coloring. Check it out.
On the technical side, we currently only support FLV and H.264 encoded video files. Most FLV files should support streaming, but we sorta hate FLV. Unfortunately, many H.264 files will need to fully buffer before playback can begin. This is due to the nature of the H.264 and our limited access and control over files through the Dropbox API. If you encode your H.264 files to include the meta information at the begin of the file (typically it’s stored at the end) streaming should work. That said, this is a very experimental feature and we would love to hear any feedback you might have, just tweet or email us.
